Will our sessions be confidential?
Trust is a key part of the therapeutic relationship and is imperative to me and my core values. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and therefore, I am bound by their professional codes of conduct regarding confidentiality and ethical practice, something I adhere to. Confidentiality is an important part of a counselling session and whilst everything we discuss during our sessions is fully confidential, there will be breaches if it is that I thought you were at risk to yourself or others, or there is illegal activities such as child abuse and terrorism. I also attend supervision monthly and whilst some of our work may be discussed, there would be no identifiable information given. I am also registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
How many sessions would I need to attend?
The simple answer to that question is that there is no simple answer because it would depend on a variety of factors including:
What the difficulty is and how long you have been experiencing it.
Your self-awareness and self-confidence.
To what level you want to change.
Your engagement in therapy.
Other difficulties arising along the way.
It can take longer for some clients, more than others. However, I believe that you recognise when the time is right for you to conclude your sessions, along with my support. Throughout our time together, I will propose review sessions, where we can discuss your progress and next steps.
What happens if I miss or cancel an appointment?
If a session is cancelled 24 hours or more before the appointment then there is no charge. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice or non-attendance for a scheduled session will be charged at the full rate and must be received before any further sessions can take place.
How often would I attend a session?
Usually it would be at the same time and day each week or fortnightly. If you need flexibility in your work/family life then of course we can discuss this.
